Dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption, the cathedral is a shining example of both great historical interest and architectural and artistic mastery. From the outside, one cannot fail to admire the splendid rose window on the façade, and the colossal statue of St Christopher, while the interior contains art and sacred artefacts from the 13th century to the present day. Must-sees are the Ossuary and Lapidary, where many of the works salvaged from the 1976 earthquake are preserved.
TRIVIA- Inside the Cathedral is 'Dante’s Bell', dated 1423 and bearing lines from the last canto of the Divine Comedy.
